Approach To Neonatal convulsion :
- Time of onset of convulsion,duration,type of convulsion
- Single or recurrent episodes
- H/O sudden pallor,apnea,convulsion in preterm-IVH Any risk factor of sepsis
- Abnormal body & urine odour
- H/O Prolonged labour,Obstructed labour (Perinatal Asphyxia)
- H/O Consanguinous marriage(Inborn error of metabolism)
- H/O Maternal DM ( Hypoglycemia, hypocalcemia, Hypomagnesemia)
- Maternal history of rash during pregnancy (TORCH infection)
- Maternal history of chorioamnionitis, UTI in last trimester (Neonatal sepsis)
- Perinatal history — Birth event,mode of delivery,resuscitation event,APGAR score
- Small for gestational age - Hypoglycemia is common
- Feeding history — if convulsion occur after initiation of breast feeding suggestive of inborn error of metabolism
