Palpation

Visible Vein : 

1) over costal margin: normal 

2) Around the umbilicus: caput medusae, portal hypertension.

3) Lateral wall of abdomen: 

• a) Obstruction of Inferior venacava (IVC)-Direction of flow upwards.
• b) Superior venacaval Obstruction (SVC): Direction of flow downwards.
