Protocols

 Clinical Features:

  • Paresthesia, Ataxia
  • Tetany, Seizure
  • H/O Diarrhoea, Vomiting, Diuretics


on Examination:

  • Pulse: (arrhythmia)
  • Trousseau's Sign:
  • Chvostek's sign:

Investigation:

  • S. Magnesium
  • S. calcium
  • S. Albumin
  • S. Creatinine
  • S. Electrolyte
  • ECG
  • RBS

Rx :(hospital)

  • Diet: Normal

If Asymptomatic and moderate (0.96mg/dl) with no vomiting:

If symptomatic or with less K+/ less Ca2+:

If arrhythmia, tetany or convulsion:

If mild symptom or resolving of arrhythmia,tetany or convulsion:

  • Inf. 4% Nalepsin 100ml
    • 100 ml IV @25 d/min. (Till Mg++ >1.2mg/d)

Aftet becoming Mg++ >1.2mg/dl
