13. Tinea Incognito

Clinical faetures Tinea incognito:

1. H/O topical steroid application.

2.Widespread lesions 

3.Lack of clear border

Investigation: 

1.Specific : skin scraping for fungus 

2.RBS ,SGPT

Cause: 

Fungal infection widespred use of topical steroid 

D/D:

  1.Chronic Eczema

 2.Seborrhic dermatitis 

Treatment Tinea incognito :

1. Tab.Xfin ([post id="555" title="Terbinafine"]) (250mg) 

1+0+1.....15 days then 0+0+1......6 weeks 

OR

 Cap.Itra ([post id="556" title="Itraconazole"]) (100mg) ....1+0+1...1 month 

then 0+0+1......1 month

2.Xfin cream([post id="555" title="Terbinafine"]) ...2 times daily ....2 month 

3.Nizoder shampoo ([post id="553" title="Ketoconazole"])daily to wash affected area.... 2-3 months

if itching:

Tab.Alatrol ([post id="533" title="Cetirizine"]) (10mg) 0+0+1........1 month 

OR

Tab.Xyril (10mg)([post id="534" title="Hydroxyzine"]) ....1+0+1......1 months 

  If any Secondary infection:

Tab.Furotil plus([post id="400" title="Cefuroxime"]) (500mg)

…1+0+1….7 days

Prevention:

1.Avoid soap 

2.Avoid sweating 

3.Follow up
